It has been a rough couple of weeks for the country music world when it comes to health news as several stars have had to call off or postpone shows due to health issues.
A handful of the health announcement came heading into the weekend.
Country music legend Hank Williams Jr. announced that he was postponing a pair of shows in Oklahoma.
“We’re so sorry to share that due to illness, Hank Williams Jr. will be unable to perform the shows scheduled for Tulsa and Thackerville, OK,” a statement on his Instagram account read. “These dates will be rescheduled for later next month, and all tickets will be honored for the new dates.”
Williams Jr. announced that Friday’s show in Tulsa will be rescheduled for Sept. 19, and Saturday’s show in Thackerville will be rescheduled for Sept. 20.
“We regret any inconvenience this may cause and truly appreciate your understanding and support,” the statement added. “We can’t wait to be back on stage with you soon.”
He wasn’t the only legendary performer to fall ill across the past week.
Country music icon Connie Smith was slated to celebrate the 60th anniversary of her Grand Ole Opry induction, but that changed when she and her husband, fellow country star Marty Stuart, fell ill.
A statement shared to Smith’s Instagram broke the news to fans.
“Unfortunately, the special evening at the Grand Ole Opry planned for tomorrow night celebrating Connie Smith’s 60 years as an Opry member must be postponed,” the statement read. “We look forward to rescheduling this soon and to listening to the wonderful lineup of folks performing tomorrow night!”
Meanwhile, some younger country stars have also had to take a step back.
Ashley McBryde has had to take time off to rest her voice on doctor’s orders.
The 42-year-old recently announced that on Instagram.
“My voice has been struggling over the past few weeks, and as much as it pains me, I won’t be able to play my shows this week,” she wrote. “My doctors have made it crystal clear: my voice needs complete rest to heal.
“There’s nothing I want more than to be back giving you 100%,” she added. “Thank you for understanding. I’ll see you soon.”
Although she cannot talk, she is still sharing the experience with fans.
“Not being able to use my voice is a scary feeling,” she wrote alongside a video of playing with her cat. “That’s the not so fun reality of your voice being how you make a living. But August Moon is keeping me company while I let it heal. Thank you for being so understanding, my hope is that these pipes will be back to what they should be soon.”
And finally, 26-year-old star Ella Langley stepped away from her tour.
“There’s nothing I want more than to be back giving you 100%,” she added. “Thank you for understanding. I’ll see you soon.”
Although she cannot talk, she is still sharing the experience with fans.

“Sometimes we have to listen when our bodies and hearts are telling us to slow down,” she added. “I’m so grateful for your understanding and your love — it truly means the world to me.”
She then listed the shows she would not be at — Aug. 15-16 in Cleveland, August 19 in Nashville, Aug. 21 in Montana, Aug. 22 in Idaho Falls, Aug. 23 in Nampa, Idaho and Aug. 25 in Morrison, Colorado.
“I’ll be back on the road in September,” she wrote. “Ready to give you my all.”
She also shared the Bible verse Matthew 11:28: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
The road can be a grind, but the good news appears to be that all of the singers in the headlines for the health postponements and breaks don’t appear to have ailments that cannot be fixed with some rest and time off.
