Cristiano Ronaldo was in action as Al Nassr faced Rio Ave FC.

Fans have reacted on social media after seeing what Cristiano Ronaldo did when Al Nassr won a penalty.

On Thursday evening, Ronaldo was on the pitch as Al Nassr faced Portuguese side Rio Ave in a pre-season friendly at the Estadio Algarve.

In a match that was dominated by Al Nassr, the team won 4-0 thanks to a hat-trick from Ronaldo and a goal from Mohamed Simakan.

In the 61st minute, Al Nassr won a penalty with the opportunity to take a 3-0 lead.

Instead of executing it himself, Ronaldo decided to pass the ball to Sadio Mane.

However, the former Liverpool player took a very poor penalty, which was easily saved by Rio Ave goalkeeper Cezary Miszta.

After Mane missed a penalty, Ronaldo headed home to make it 3-0.

On social media, there was no shortage of fan reactions:

One fan wrote: "Cristiano Ronaldo gave Sadio Mane the penalty to boost his confidence, but Mane handed the ball to the goalkeeper. WHAT A BIG LOSS!"

Another posted: "Player without confidence in SAUDI ARABIA? This can't be true."

A third added: "Ronaldo is the most humble player of all time."

Another wrote: "Oh man, this is serious! You give someone a chance to build their confidence and then turn around like this? Mane must feel really bad... I don't think CR7 will give him another chance anytime soon."

A fifth asked: "What's happening to Mane?"

During the 24/25 season, Mane played 47 games for Al Nassr in all competitions, scoring 18 goals and providing 14 assists.

In June, Mane was surprisingly left out of the Senegal squad for the post-season friendly against England.

Despite the absence of their star player, Senegal won 3-1, thanks to goals from Ismaila Sarr, Habib Diarra and Cheikh Sabaly.

Explaining Mane's absence, Senegal coach Pape Thiaw said it was a personal decision by the player himself.

He said: "It's a personal decision, his private matter, and I respect that as a coach."

Mane had previously been criticised after Senegal drew with Sudan and beat Togo in World Cup qualifiers in March. /GazetaExpress/
