President John Dramani Mahama has stated that his three-day State visit to Singapore will deepen relations between the two nations and foster new avenues of cooperation in trade, education, innovation, agribusiness, and the digital economy.
The President has arrived in Singapore as part of efforts to strengthen Ghana–Singapore relations.
His trip comes on the back of a working visit to Japan and his participation in the ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9).
In a social media post on Monday, August 25, Mr. Mahama noted that Ghana and Singapore share common values rooted in innovation, skills development, and enterprise.
He stressed that his visit would go beyond rhetoric and lead to practical outcomes for both countries.
“Ghana and Singapore share a forward-looking outlook anchored in innovation, skills, and enterprise. This visit will translate our shared values into practical cooperation—bringing Singaporean investment and know-how into Ghana’s priority sectors while opening new pathways for Ghanaian businesses across Southeast Asia,” he wrote.
During the visit, President Mahama is scheduled to meet Singapore’s President, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, and Prime Minister, Lawrence Wong.
He will also deliver the keynote address at the 8th Africa–Singapore Business Forum and headline a Ghana Investment and Business Forum aimed at attracting investment into Ghana’s key sectors.
The State visit is expected to further cement bilateral ties and position Ghanaian businesses to tap into opportunities across Southeast Asia.
