Singapore professionals are among the most positive in the Asia-Pacific about AI’s potential to improve work experiences, a LinkedIn survey released on Aug 26 shows. Around 69% of local professionals believe AI will benefit their work lives, ahead of the UK (59.4%), Australia (56.9%) and the US (54.3%), though behind India (78.3%) and the UAE (77.2%).
The survey, conducted in July across 14 countries with more than 19,000 workers, comes amid ongoing concerns about AI’s impact on jobs. Singapore’s Government is actively addressing these worries, with initiatives to retrain employees for safer, higher-paying roles, such as port workers using AI to manage multiple cranes remotely.
LinkedIn’s Asia-Pacific managing director, Feon Ang, said confidence in government support is boosting optimism. Workers themselves are also upskilling: Singapore saw a 147% rise in time spent on AI courses, with employees actively adding AI-related skills to their profiles. Young professionals aged 18–24 were the most hopeful, with over 80% expecting AI to improve work outcomes, though they remain cautious about AI accuracy.
AI adoption is reshaping hiring trends in Singapore, with AI-related roles growing nearly 25% faster than overall employment. Experts stress combining technical fluency with human-centric skills to stay competitive, noting that AI is transforming, not replacing, jobs.
This feature explores how Singapore’s workforce is embracing AI, balancing reskilling, human skills, and practical experience to navigate the changing workplace landscape.
