UNC Health Reaffirms Commitment to Rockingham Hospital

UNC Health Interim CEO visits UNC Health Rockingham with Sen. Berger and others

EDEN, N.C. – July 29, 2025 – The top executive at UNC Health visited UNC Health Rockingham on Monday with Senate leader Phil Berger to reaffirm the health system’s commitment to invest in the health of Rockingham County and continue providing much-needed medical care for Eden and surrounding communities.

UNC Health Interim CEO Dr. Cristy Page visited UNC Health Rockingham with Sen. Phil Berger to tour the hospital, meet teammates, and reaffirm our commitment to healthcare in Eden and Rockingham County.

Dr. Cristy Page, UNC Health interim CEO, toured UNC Health Rockingham on Monday with Berger, hospital CEO Steve Eblin and other leaders.

“This is a challenging season for health care, but UNC Health is committed to ensuring our hospitals across the state – including UNC Health Rockingham – have what they need to meet their mission. Rural health is a priority of mine and I am honored that I share that priority with Senator Berger,” Page said. “We’re grateful to Senator Berger for visiting our teammates and thanking them for the outstanding care they provide.”

“Since 2017, when we were on the brink of losing our hospital, UNC Health has been a crucial partner in our community,” Sen. Berger said. “I want to thank Dr. Page and the team at UNC Health for continuing to support UNC Health Rockingham and the vital care it provides to our residents. I remain committed to ensuring that UNC Health Rockingham continues to be our local hospital and provides access to care in Eden and Rockingham County for generations to come.” Berger said.

UNC Health Rockingham is a 108-bed community hospital that provides inpatient, outpatient, surgical and emergency care. The hospital also offers diagnostic and treatment services, provides screenings and tests and leads wellness initiatives. UNC Health bought Rockingham in 2018 and has helped expand care and services available in the community.
