After a chance for another milestone goal fell short Saturday, Cristiano Ronaldo will continue to wait to be able to add to his tally in Al Nassr’s 2-0 defeat of Al Khlood in the Saudi Pro League. Even though the team secured a convincing victory, Ronaldo endured more goal-scoring frustration, with the 40-year-old clearly disappointed on the pitch.

The superstar was not able to score his 100th goal for his national side, though, and neither could his teammates, and so his wait for another landmark goal continues.

Cristiano Ronaldo's frustration evident during the match

Ronaldo's frustration in the course of the game became apparent. Despite getting into dangerous positions and having some half-chances, the Portuguese forward couldn't muster a goal. His calls for the ball and behaviour in the occasional huddle with his team-mates indicated how desperate he is to end his personal drought, which has now reached several games.

Ronaldo had his best shots from inside the area or headers that went close, but he was tied through most of Al Nassr's attacking play.

Team's performance shines without Cristiano Ronaldo’s goals

Ronaldo did not achieve another personal milestone, but Al Nassr proved their team is working well together with the 2–0 win. They set themselves on the way to victory with a goal from Sadio Mané in the 52nd minute after a team move, and Iñigo Martínez added the second in the 81st minute from a header.

Coach Luis Castro credited the entire team and said it was not dependent on one player.

Ronaldo's 1,000th career goal is on the horizon, and fans can't wait. He has kept his sights set on this milestone, and although the goal drought continues, pundits are confident it won't be long before he adds another to his tally. In the meantime, Ronaldo's focus will be on helping Al Nassr in their league push while waiting for his personal milestone to arrive.
